On Thursday 11th June 2026, the Lord Mayor, Councillor Chris Herd, came to visit with us. He was greeted on the day by our Chair of Trustees, Yunus Mayat, and Vice-Chair of Trustees, Mary Carroll.
He also met some of our staff team, including Latif and Kirsty. Most importantly, he met one of our amazing volunteers, Rhonda. Our volunteers are the reason that our charity is still thriving and they encourage us to keep going, no matter what. They support people because they choose to, because they care, because they want to give something back.
During the visit, we discussed our role, service users and our volunteers. It was a great visit and the Lord Mayor thoroughly enjoyed it.
Why did the Lord Mayor visit?
We invite each Lord Mayor to visit with us every year. We find these visits to be most helpful for letting others know that we are here, for all potential service users or partnership working. Word of mouth is very powerful, especially if you are in a vulnerable situation, where looking things up on the internet may not be possible.

Partnership Working
We hope that we can continue for a long time and partnership working is key to that. If you think working together would be beneficial to you, or you know someone coming to court, send us an email on info@bccsassist.org.uk.
Our role is to support people in court, for whatever reason. We will not ask why you are here, we don’t need to know, if you would like to share then we will listen to you. We are not here to judge anyone, just help them at a very scary and confusing time.
