Kings Award for Voluntary Service

Our Chair of Trustees, Yunus Mayat, and long‑term volunteer, Steve Wood, recently attended the King’s Award for Voluntary Service shortlist event at Bowcliffe Hall in Wetherby.

It was an inspiring afternoon, and they were able to meet representatives from many other shortlisted organisations. As a result, they had the chance to speak with groups whose volunteers make a real difference in their communities. This made the event feel both meaningful and uplifting.

In addition, they met several Deputy Lieutenants, including Sofia Buncy, as well as the Lord‑Lieutenant, Adeba Malik. During these conversations, they were informed that shortlisted organisations will receive the outcome by 14 November, so we now look forward to hearing the results.

Another highlight of the day was hearing from previous recipients of the King’s Award for Voluntary Service. Their stories showed how much the award has helped their charities, and they also reminded everyone of the prestige and value of this national recognition.

Furthermore, the lovely weather and beautiful grounds of Bowcliffe Hall added to the occasion, making the afternoon even more special.

Whatever the outcome in November, being shortlisted is an achievement we are extremely proud of. It reflects the dedication and hard work of our volunteers, trustees, and everyone connected to our organisation. Because of this, we want to thank you all for your continued support, which has helped make this recognition possible.
